Troubleshooting
I was using Fetch Internet, but then I used a different app on my iPhone, and Fetch Internet lost the connection to my computer. Why did that happen?
Fetch Internet is able to hold the connection between your iPhone and your Mac or Windows computer for up to three (3) minutes. If you start using a different app on your iPhone, all you have to do is go back into the Fetch Internet app within three minutes, and your computer will not lose any Internet connectivity. If you go beyond the three minutes, all you have to do is open back up the Fetch Internet app, and if you don’t see the green dot, just unplug the charging cable and plug it back in, and you’ll be back up and running.
If I do open up a different app on my iPhone, is there a way that I can be reminded to bring the Fetch Internet app back up on my iPhone before it loses the connection to the computer?
Yep! When there’s about one minute left (of the three minute countdown) you’ll see a notification on your Windows or Mac computer reminding you to bring the Fetch Internet app back up on your iPhone. If you’re not seeing these notifications, it means that you’ve set your computer to not give you notifications.
To Turn On Notifications
- On a Mac, go to System Preferences/Notifications/Fetch Connect and make sure that they’re all on.
- On a Windows computer, type in “Notifications and actions” into the search bar, and then select to open ‘Notifications & actions”. Make sure that Notifications is switched to the On position, and then scroll down to Fetch Connect and make sure that it is switched to the On position.
I installed Fetch Connect on my Mac, but now my WiFi seems to be all screwed up regardless of whether I’m using Fetch or not. How do I fix this?
Sometimes, (very rarely) depending on the build of your Mac, this issue can happen. Not to worry, this can be fixed within 2 minutes and you’ll never suffer from this issue again. We know how terrifying this issue can seem. Below are the instructions to fix the issue. Here is a PDF with the same instructions with screenshots for more visual learners. If this does not resolve the issue, please contact us to schedule a phone call with a member of our technical support team to walk you through troubleshooting and resolving the issue.
- Open “Network Preferences” on your Mac.
- Click on the Gear icon and select “Set Service Order”.
- Drag “Tether_Connection” to the bottom of the list.
- Click “OK”. Please see if this resolves the issue. If it does not resolve the issue, or if “Tether_Connection” was already at the bottom of the list, then please do the following:
- Open “Network Preferences” (again).
- Highlight “Wi-Fi” and click on the minus sign toward the bottom left.
- Click “Apply”.
- Now, click on the plus sign. Then, select “Wi-Fi” in the dropdown. Click “Create”.
- Click on the Gear icon and select “Set Service Order”. Drag “Wi-Fi” to the top of that list.
- Click “Apply”.
- The issue should be resolved.
